Position Overview

Mayzon is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and results-driven Director of Product Development – Hardlines to lead development across functional bath products, including utility items, accessories, and furniture.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Product Development Leadership

· Partner closely with the Vice President of Product Development and Design to establish strategic product direction across multiple categories and timelines.

· Collaborate closely with the Director of Product Development – Softlines and the Director of Hardlines Design to drive one voice direction, alignment, and execution consistency across the organization.

· Drive excellence in product execution, commercialization, and speed-to-market.

· Manage and mentor the Product Development team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

· Drive a one voice, one team approach across Product Development, Design, and cross-functional partners by modernizing processes, improving communication, and increasing organizational alignment, efficiency, and execution.

Trend, Market & Competitive Analysis

· Review client and competitor assortments and pricing structures.

· Analyze the market through trade shows, store visits, competitor reviews, and online research.

· Translate market trends, customer needs, and consumer insights into actionable product opportunities and development strategies.

· Partner with Design to support the creation of trend-right assortments that support customer strategies and business goals.

· Oversee standards, swatches, and evolving core libraries for colors and materials.

Commercial & Product Expertise

· Maintain a strong understanding of cost of goods and global sourcing trends that influence costing strategies.

· Oversee the Product Development team’s creation of RFQs and partner with leadership to ensure products meet IMU and pricing targets.

· Ensure the Product Development team delivers products within category and material cost targets, using sales data to guide development strategies and business decisions.

· Serve as the subject matter expert in product specifications, materials, sourcing regions, manufacturing processes, cost engineering, and components.

· Lead with a quality first mindset while balancing material costs, finishing and construction components of product build.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Process Management

· Build and maintain product development calendars with alignment across cross-functional teams.

· Ensure all stakeholders understand timelines, deliverables, and process expectations.

· Partner closely with Design, Sales, Sourcing, and overseas teams to execute products efficiently and effectively.

· Utilize available resources and systems to manage the business end-to-end including development updates, sample tracking, commercialization readiness, and calendar management.

Organization, Communication & Leadership

· Manage deadlines and help prioritize workload across the Product Development organization.

· Ensure stakeholders understand deliverables and troubleshoot issues effectively to deliver product development in a timely manner.

· Understand the breadth of work to be executed while balancing multiple priorities and business needs.

· Serve as a trusted and credible liaison within and outside the organization.

· Keep leadership and stakeholders informed of challenges, solutions, and progress in an organized and timely manner.

· Appropriately communicate sensitive, proprietary, or controversial business matters with transparency and professionalism.

· Seek opportunities to share learnings and best practices with cross-functional teams and contribute to the broader growth of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree preferred.

· 10–12 years of product development experience within consumer products, hardlines, home, apparel, accessories, or related categories.

· Strong strategic thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to execute effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

· Highly motivated, collaborative leader with a proactive mindset, strong sense of urgency, and attention to detail.

· Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams within fast-paced product development environments.
