Our ideal candidate will have a valid substitute teaching certificate with the Department of Education and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for effectively managing the classroom, supervising students, and delivering instruction based on lesson plans provided by regular teachers. Additionally, you may be required to fill in for other employees as needed, such as school secretaries and the school nurse.
Key Responsibilities
• Follow established lesson plans to ensure a cohesive and consistent learning environment
• Manage the classroom effectively, promoting student participation and minimizing distractions
• Supervise students both in and out of the classroom, including during recess and physical education classes
• Provide clear instructions and assignments to students based on available lesson plans
• Possess basic computer skills and utilize instructional technology provided by the district
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by board policy
Working Conditions
This position requires regular work in a school environment that can be noisy and active. Occasionally, you may be required to work outdoors, such as during physical education classes or supervising recess. The salary for this role is $110 per day or $55 for a half-day, and substitutes should arrive by 7:25 am and typically leave by 3:35 pm.
Requirements
• Valid substitute teaching certificate with the Department of Education
• At least 36 college credits
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and instruct students in Preschool through 12th grade
