Location: Maysville High School
Contract: 9-10 Month (as determined by district)
Position Summary
The Academic Advisor supports student success by overseeing graduation progress, coordinating academic and career readiness programs, managing district and state assessments, and supporting attendance initiatives. This position works collaboratively with the JH/HS counselor on the duties and responsibilities listed below. This position also works collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners to ensure every student is prepared for post-secondary success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Graduation Requirements & Academic Monitoring

Monitor student credit completion and graduation requirements.

Maintain accurate academic records, including transcripts.

Assist students with course scheduling and four-year plans.

Identify students at risk of credit deficiency and coordinate credit recovery options.

Communicate graduation status updates with students, families, and administration.
Academic Programs Coordination

Serve as A Program Coordinator, ensuring compliance with state guidelines and student eligibility.

Coordinate partnerships and student participation with Hillyard Technical Center.

Organize and oversee student classroom tutoring placement.
-
Promote and monitor participation in specialized academic programs.
College Readiness

Coordinate dual credit enrollment and monitor eligibility requirements.

Provide guidance on scholarships and post-secondary financial opportunities.

Assist families with FAFSA information and completion support events.

Organize and facilitate college visits and college representative meetings.

Support students with post-secondary planning and application processes.
Career Readiness

Facilitate career fair and job shadowing opportunities and work-based learning experiences.

Coordinate work study and internship placements.

Provide information regarding Armed Services opportunities and connect students with recruiters as appropriate.

Support students in developing career plans aligned with their interests and goals.
District & State Assessment Coordination

Serve as District Test Coordinator for state and national assessments including MAP/EOC, ACT, ASVAB, and other required exams.

Ensure testing security, compliance, scheduling, and staff training.

Organize testing logistics, accommodations, and communication with stakeholders.

Analyze and report testing data to administration.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities

Monitor student attendance data and identify patterns of concern.

Communicate attendance concerns with families in a timely and supportive manner.

Collaborate with administration to implement attendance interventions and supports.
Qualifications
-
High School Diploma required, Associate's Degree preferred. Teaching certification is not required.

Knowledge of state graduation requirements and assessment systems.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Experience working with high school students preferred.
