Position Summary
This position summarizes the requirements of a Technician-level Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. The employee is responsible for building and maintaining production tooling while supporting daily manufacturing operations. The employee performs tool repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment by following established safety procedures (i.e. proper lifting techniques) and using required personal protective equipment.
- Effectively use Epicor ERP to log into and out of jobs.
- Assist in instructing and training other employees within the department and follow direction from supervisors and leads.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, maintain an organized work area, and report tooling or equipment issues to management to ensure prompt handling.
- Conduct inspections using precision measuring equipment, including the Coordinate Measuring Machine and SPC, and verify conformance to specifications.
- Support Engineering and Operations by assisting with tooling, fixtures, and process development through prototype, pre-production, and production.
- Design and fabricate fixtures, tooling, and sketches as needed to support manufacturing operations.
- Build, repair, modify, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and samples in support of production.
- Set up and operate manual and machine tools to manufacture parts that meet engineering specifications (including exact dimensional requirements) and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, routings, manufacturing instructions, and technical drawings to complete assigned work.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
- Ability to apply concepts of complex algebra and geometry.
- Must have completed a journeyman program through a participating school and obtained the journeyman credentials.
- An Associate Degree in a related field or the equivalent experience is preferred.
- Current and valid weld certifications are preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, and walk up to 8-10 hours per day.
Schedule and Work Environment
- Full time, 1st shift, hours may vary
- Chance for overtime
- Noise level in work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility.
- Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment.
