GENERAL SUMMARY
The Billing Specialist processes charges for services using a computerized billing system. The Billing Specialist is responsible for the timely, complete, and accurate submission of billing and invoicing.
Essential Duties and accountabilities
|
· Ensures timely, accurate posting of Medicare and commercial insurance claims for home health/hospice and personal services · Makes solid judgement and adhere to all policies ensuring the protection of confidential information related to patient demographics, medical information, PHI according to both internal and Federal HIPPA regulations and guidelines |
|
· Research for outstanding claims in the Medicare system · Initiate adjustment and write off request · Run daily, weekly, monthly reports as required · Assist with insurance verifications · Assist the Commercial Billing Specialist · Ensures effective communication and positive working relationships with personnel from all areas of the agency to maintain coordinatin of interrelated activities · Communicates necessary information to supervisor and management team to ensure coordination of financial operations · Performs job in compliance with agency policies and procedures and according to accepted standards of practice · All other duties as assigned |
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
· Knowledgeable user of computer systems and application to include Microsoft Word & Excel
· A keen eye for details
· Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines while maintaining flexibility in meeting department and individual workload demands
· Insurance knowledge
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills
· Organization and time management skills
EDUCATION
· High School diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
· 2 years of billing experience.
· Experience billing Home health and Hospice claims is preferred.
