Position Summary
The Area Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading and managing branch-level operational performance across an assigned region. This role ensures operational excellence, financial accountability, patient-centered care, and employee engagement. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Area Vice President drives growth, compliance, efficiency, and patient satisfaction while supporting branch leadership and field teams to meet organizational goals. This position operates within the RACI model to ensure clear communication and transparency. This role will be responsible for additional duties and assignments as the Home Health Division develops.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
• Responsible and accountable for clear communication to their leaders and front-line staff.
• Responsible for achieving and reporting off on KPIs for their assigned region, including clinical, growth, recruitment, turnover, financial and quality measures.
• Ensure assigned branches meet and exceed budgetary and financial performance expectations.
• Drive growth strategies, including referral coordination, and conversion improvement.
• Monitor and manage Average Daily Census (ADC) while supporting market expansion initiatives.
• Implement and oversee utilization practices (VBP, SHP, QAPI).
• Monitor unbilled visits, and F2F compliance to protect financial integrity.
Patient Care Management
• Ensure excellence in patient care delivery, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
• Support interdisciplinary team (IDT) coordination and communication to improve care delivery.
• Conduct regular reviews of documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Monitor care verification and scheduling to ensure workflow efficiency and patient-centered planning.
Team Leadership & Employee Engagement
• Provide leadership and support to branch administrators and operational staff.
• Drive employee satisfaction through recognition, communication, and transparent leadership.
• Partner with Clinical & Compliance leaders to conduct performance evaluations of staff and managers.
• Lead recruitment and retention strategies to build strong, engaged field teams.
Productivity & Accountability
• Ensure effective workflow management across branches to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Track productivity benchmarks and address variances with corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to monitor staffing patterns and workload distribution.
• Partner with Clinical Care Delivery teams to integrate SHP, VBP and quality measures into operational performance tracking.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or BSN, RN or other related experience preferred.
• 7 years of progressive leadership experience in Home Health operations, including multi-site/regional oversight preferred.
• Strong financial and operational management expertise with demonstrated success in meeting/exceeding budgets.
• Proven track record of driving census growth, referral development, and market expansion.
• Knowledge of SHP metrics, QAPI processes, and CMS documentation requirements.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to engage, develop, and retain staff across multiple branches.
