Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. As a Dental Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk.
- Schedule patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers, ensuring accurate billing and coding.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting payments and updating medical records.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear communication and appointment coordination.
- Maintain organized filing systems for dental records, medical history forms, and other administrative documents.
- Assist with insurance claims processing, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and billing procedures related to dental care plans.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental office management software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Meditech or Athenahealth.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and insurance verification procedures.
- Experience with medical billing, claims submission, and Medicare documentation review processes.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (including 10-key typing).
- Ability to handle sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Exceptional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills to provide outstanding patient service in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with office management practices is essential.
