Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with experience in both general and pediatric dentistry. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic, and supporting the dental team in delivering high-quality services.
Duties
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by providing chairside support and ensuring that all necessary instruments are prepared and sterile.
- Perform radiographic imaging, including X-rays, while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records and documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix and Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans to promote optimal dental health.
- Maintain an organized and clean clinical environment by following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering medical history to assist in treatment planning.
- Collaborate with the dental team to facilitate effective communication and coordination of patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in dental technology, including the use of 3D scanners for imaging and prosthodontics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with familiarity in both general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings.
- Proficient knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong skills in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry practices.
- Ability to perform medical coding for accurate billing and documentation of services rendered.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members.
- A commitment to continuous learning about dental procedures, technologies, and best practices in patient care.
