Description
The ESL Instructor teaches a small group of students seeking to improve their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Instructor delivers instruction sessions geared toward meeting student needs and using curriculum provided by the college. Candidates should have good communication and organizational skills. Some ability to understand Spanish is helpful but is not required.
Primary Duties
• Facilitates instructional lessons to help adult learners improve their English skills
• Delivers engaging instructional sessions for adult learners
• Contacts students regularly to encourage and support them in attending class
• Maintains accurate records and related paperwork to be submitted to the office in a punctual manner
• Sustains positive, professional relationships and communication with students as well as college staff
• Communicates effectively with the administrative team in person, through email, and by telephone
• Participates in staff development sessions, trainings, and other college functions as appropriate
• No outside class duties required
Minimum Qualifications
• Working knowledge of personal computers and related software (email, web browser)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Considerable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive materials
or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's or bachelor's degree suggested but not required
