ESL Family Liaison (26-27SY)

REPORTS TO: Director of ESL/Migrant Education
FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Start Date: 8/1/2026; Permanent Part Time with No Benefits

12 months, 19 hours or less per week

Position Summary

Serves as a liaison between the school, family, and community for ESL/Immigrant Families.

Qualification and Special Requirements

• High school diploma required, BS preferred.
• Bilingual spoken and written (English & Spanish). Bicultural preferred.
• Familiarity with migrant and immigrant issues and challenges, locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Good communication skills and ability to relate to a variety of people in multiple situations – office, fields, community agencies, school personnel, students, and/or parents, etc.
• Knowledge of local resources – social and health service agencies
• Flexibility in schedule and approach to work assignments.
• Knowledge of the geographical area of Henderson County.
• Possesses own transportation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of and ability to communicate in Spanish and English languages.
• Knowledge of federal program policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of office procedures and operation of office equipment.

Essential Duties:

• Completes school registration for non-English speaking families.
• Conducts orientation to HCPS for new non-English speaking families.
• Collaborates with community agencies to provide services for students and families.
• Supports parental involvement for non-English speaking families.
• Provides support for families with questions or concerns.
• Accompanies families to school related meets as an advocate.
