JOB TITLE: Ronchi Filler Lead Operator

DEPARTMENT: Production

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

LOCATION: Phenix City, AL 36870 (on site)

The Ronchi Filler Lead Operator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a high-speed monoblock filling and capping line. This role serves as the technical and operational owner of the equipment, leading start-ups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and line performance while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and GMP standards. The Ronchi Filler Lead Operator provides on-the-floor leadership, training, and technical guidance to assigned operators and packers and plays a critical role during new line commissioning and stabilization.

Equipment Operation & Technical Ownership

• Operate, set up, and monitor the Ronchi monoblock filler and associated equipment.
• Lead line start-ups, shutdowns, and format changeovers.
• Adjust fill volumes, capper settings, and container handling components.
• Serve as the primary operational point of contact during equipment issues.

Automation & Controls Competency

• Navigate and utilize HMI systems for start-up, production, and troubleshooting.
• Understand machine sequences, interlocks, and safety logic.
• Respond appropriately to alarms and fault conditions.
• Monitor trends and setpoints to ensure stable operation.
• Support commissioning and OEM-led training.

Note: PLC programming is not required; fluency in equipment logic and process flow is required.

Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization

• Diagnose and correct fill, cap, and container handling issues.
• Identify root causes of downtime and recurring faults.
• Participate in downtime tracking and Pareto analysis.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality & GMP Compliance

• Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and quality standards.
• Perform and document line clearances and inspections.
• Complete batch records and changeover documentation.
• Maintain cosmetic and functional quality standards.

Leadership & Training

• Act as the lead technical resource on the line.
• Train and coach operators and packers.
• Reinforce SOP adherence and standardized work.
• Promote accountability and teamwork.

TPM, Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Support TPM and Autonomous Maintenance activities.
• Perform routine inspections and basic adjustments.
• Identify chronic losses and inefficiencies.
• Follow LOTO procedures and stop production for unsafe conditions.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in liquid filling or packaging operations. (Ideal)
• GMP manufacturing experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with new line start-ups or commissioning.
• Personal care, cosmetics, food & beverage, or pharmaceutical background.
• Familiarity with servo-driven and PLC-controlled equipment.
• TPM or Lean manufacturing exposure.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. (with or without accommodation).
• Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime.
• Ability to work in PPE-required manufacturing environments.

• Stable and safe operation of the Ronchi monoblock filler.
• Efficient start-ups and repeatable changeovers.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Experience:

• Liquid filling/packaging operations: 5 years (Required)
• Ronchi, monoblock, or high-speed filling & capping equipment: 3 years (Preferred)
• new line start-ups or equipment commissioning: 3 years (Preferred)
• personal care, food & bev, or pharmaceutical manufacturing: 3 years (Preferred)
