Chemical Compounder
Responsible for the manufacturing of bulk products (liquid and powder formulations) which are formulated to finished goods. Includes the weighs of raw materials; the operation of various processing equipment and the documentation of this operation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: None
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strict adherence to FDA regulations, as well as, internal procedures is critical.
- Weigh and measure various raw materials used to make batches.
- Operate equipment used to process ingredients in both manual and automatic fashion.
- Complete documentation for all processing, weighing and cleaning operations.
- Perform cleaning and sanitizing of process vessels, utensils, equipment and keep work area clean.
- Understand and comply with all SOP's and GMP guidelines.
- Perform all activities in a safe and healthful manner.
- Conduct inventory of raw materials and products.
- Assist others in the performance of these tasks.
- Ability to wear respiratory protection to perform specific tasks.
- Operate electric pallet jack or forklift to move materials.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Excellent reading, math and communication skills.
- Able to read, understand & apply information from SOP's, batch sheets, etc.
- Confident in the use of basic math calculations, percentages, fractions and decimal notation.
- Familiar with different measurement schemes, e.g. kilograms vs. pounds; Fluid vs. liters.
- Able to effectively communication with supervisor, co-workers, Quality, Packaging, and other departments.
- Understanding of FDA/OSHA/cGMP standards and regulations preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Level I High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year recent/consistent experience as a Compounder or equivalent compounder experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Position requires walking, standing, sitting, twisting, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Frequent computer usage and the ability to use both hands and feet, arms, and legs.
