Duties
- Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, child and spousal support, post-judgment issues, dependency, and domestic violence
- Develop and execute legal strategies tailored to each client’s goals, case facts, and applicable law
- Prepare for and conduct court proceedings, including evidentiary hearings and trials
- Lead and participate in mediations and negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes
- Draft and supervise legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, contracts, and settlement agreements
- Conduct legal research and case analysis to support litigation and settlement strategies
- Meet with clients to discuss case progress, evaluate options, and determine next steps
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding significant developments
- Collaborate with internal staff and external professionals, including expert witnesses, to support case outcomes
- Assign and oversee work performed by legal support staff to ensure quality and timeliness
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Provide MLG staff with copies of all client-provided and attorney-drafted documents
- Track billable time and value delivered to clients in accordance with firm policies
- Participate in bi-weekly case review meetings with firm leadership to assess strategy, support needs, and payment status
- Contribute to firm performance by meeting or exceeding key metrics and expectations
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the Florida Bar Association
- At least 3 years of experience practicing family law
- Willingness to travel to Tampa and St. Petersburg courts as needed or relocate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Empathy, discretion, and professionalism in sensitive client matters
