Job Overview
The Cut & Sew Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities within the cutting and sewing departments for automotive interior components (e.g. trim covers, armrests, and soft trim assemblies). This role ensures production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are met while leading, training, and developing operators. The supervisor drives continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day operations of cutting and sewing production lines for automotive interior components.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining required quality and efficiency standards.
- Lead, coach, and develop operators, team leaders, and support staff to improve performance and skill levels.
- Train new and existing employees on sewing operations, cutting processes, quality standards, and safe work practices.
- Monitor production metrics including efficiency, scrap, rework, and throughput; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to OEM and Tier 1 quality standards, including inspection procedures and defect prevention.
- Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve production issues.
- Support launch activities for new programs including process setup, training, and ramp-up.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, ergonomics, quality, and waste reduction.
- Maintain accurate production documentation, staffing plans, and shift reports.
- Manage staffing levels, work assignments, and cross-training to ensure operational flexibility.
- Assist with troubleshooting sewing equipment, cutting machines, and related production tooling.
- Support Lean manufacturing practices such as standardized work, 5S, and visual management.

Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in automotive interior manufacturing, specifically in cut and sew operations. or similar Industry.
- 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a Tier 1 automotive supplier environment strongly preferred.
- Proven experience supervising sewing operators, cutters, and production teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of automotive interior sewing operations, cutting processes, and soft trim manufacturing.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop production operators and team leaders.
- Experience with industrial sewing machines, automated cutting systems, and trim cover assembly processes.
- Understanding of automotive quality standards and customer expectations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and manage multiple priorities.
Working Conditions
