Mavis Tire - Accounting Manager
As a member of the Accounting Team for Mavis Tire Express Services (the “Company”), an Accounting Manager (“Accounting Manager”) is responsible for managing and assisting the accounting staff with all duties associated with their positions. The job of an Accounting Manager is to work with and oversee the accounting team as it relates to all day to day activities including monthly workpapers, reconciliations, journal entries, SOX compliance, internal and external audits, month end close, and to coordinate with A/P as necessary, as well as manage relationships with third party companies who have been hired to service accounts.
Qualifications
- To be eligible for the position of an Accounting Manager, an individual must:
- be at least 18 years of age.
- be legally authorized to work in the United States;
- BS/BA in accounting, finance or equivalent.
- 6 years of accounting experience required with fixed asset or real estate tax experience preferred.
- 2 years of prior leadership experience reviewing and instructing other staff.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding of accounting, financial reporting and internal control principles and practices.
- Have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics 365).
- Must be self-motivated, organized and dependable with a strong attention to detail.
Essential Functions of the Position
- An employee who is employed in the position of an Accounting Manager is required to:
- Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the accounting staff.
- Oversee and own the reconciliation of subledgers to the general ledger.
- Assist with month end close.
- Work with accountants to ensure all transactions are recorded as necessary.
- Review and approve journal entries of direct reports
- Perform timely reviews of monthly workpapers and reconciliations of the accounting staff to ensure that they are complete and accurate.
- Liaise with other managers and department heads as needed to ensure processes are designed properly.
- Coordinate with the tax and treasury department as well as municipalities for real property and other audits.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors ensuring complete, timely, and accurate responses to information requests.
- Handle ad hoc projects as need arises.
