Job Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
Conduct all aspects of driver orientation and training for driver applicants. Identify successful applicants and make job offers. Provide continued education and training to all company drivers as required by DOT regulations. This positions’ work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 4:00pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Train applicants and determine Pass/Fail in Maverick Policies and DOT regulations, such as: Load Securement, Hours of Service, Pre-Trip Inspections, Hazardous Materials Awareness, etc. Conduct applicant's "Driver Road Test" and determine Pass/Fail. Ensure applicant completes all academic criteria through Maverick's LMS software. Identify applicants that do not meet Maverick standards.
2. Determine which applicants will be offered jobs. Make job offers after determining applicant's successful completion of ALL Orientation testing. Approve PLOA status when necessary for drivers while in training, terminate as necessary. Provide assistance and solutions to securement and tarping problems. Develop and/or revise current processes for inclusion in Maverick's Driver Policy Book. Interpret Company policies and procedures as needed. Conduct Annual Training required under DOT regulations. Ensure all documentation is complete.
3. Assist in the creation of department action plans that support the company's strategic business plan. Instruct on DOT/FMCSR requirements regarding load securement, HOS, and Maverick policies, to include truck management skills (mapping, trip planning, time management) to all experience levels of drivers.
4. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in appropriate training. Ensure company confidentiality. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition to those requirements must have a Valid Class A CDL and Glass Business Unit experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Shop environment where continuously exposed to several elements such as, noise, intermittent standing, walking; and occasional pushing, carrying, or lifting. Also, may have exposure at times to the outside weather elements.
