About the Role


The Safety Manager oversees the creation, promotion, and execution of workplace safety initiatives and policies, ensuring that the facility remains compliant with all relevant local, state, and federal mandates. This role serves as the primary leader for the Safety Department, collaborating with supervisors and staff to mitigate hazards, elevate safety consciousness, maintain regulatory standards, and foster a robust culture of safety throughout the organization.

Your Responsibilities
  • Manage, plan, and direct all operations and administrative functions of the Safety Department.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, reports, and records to ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Implement, promote, and direct workplace safety policies and programs.
  • Conduct safety monitoring, inspections, and audits to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.
  • Create a strategic safety vision that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver timely safety training for all employees and supervisors.
  • Keep precise and organized safety and training logs.
  • Offer recommendations for policies and processes that help reduce safety risks and improve overall compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to identify health hazards and areas needing safety improvements.
  • Resolve safety challenges through training, corrective measures, and consistent monitoring to ensure a safer workplace.
  • Assess adherence to safety standards and internal programs via regular audits and inspections.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and safety concerns to recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, safety trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Advise senior management on safety changes and regulatory updates as needed.
  • Support emergency response, preparedness, and remediation efforts.
  • Maintain clear communication with all staff regarding safety expectations and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to improve safety awareness across the company.
  • Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee and other assigned groups.
  • Adhere to all established safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.

  • Deep understanding of OSHA standards and other federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with VPP certification, 5 Why, and 5S methodologies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of management experience within industrial safety and employee training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and executing safety programs and training initiatives.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedure manuals, safety standards, and complex regulatory documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify problems and establish effective, fact-based solutions.
  • Capacity to interpret complex materials, technical diagrams, and mathematical information.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
Certifications
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role provides leadership for up to two staff members, managing their coordination, evaluation, and overall direction. Supervisory duties include:

  • Conducting interviews and hiring new team members.
  • Managing the onboarding and training of staff.
  • Directing, planning, and assigning daily tasks.
  • Evaluating the performance of team members.
  • Providing recognition and rewards for performance.
  • Managing disciplinary actions and performance concerns.
  • Resolving workplace issues and employee complaints.
Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial manufacturing setting where you may encounter the following conditions:

  • Humid or wet environments.
  • Extreme heat.
  • Operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Electrical systems.
  • Airborne particles and fumes.
  • Radiation.
  • Caustic or toxic chemicals.
  • High noise levels.

Strict adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory based on the environment and regulatory requirements.

Physical Requirements

The role occasionally requires lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Physical demands include:

  • Standing and walking for long durations.
  • Sitting while performing computer-based tasks.
  • Reaching with arms and hands.
  • Balancing or climbing.
  • Crawling, kneeling, stooping, or crouching.
