Public Works Supervisor

Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 hourly

Our municipality is looking for a proactive, reliable, and skilled Public Works Supervisor to manage our daily infrastructure and maintenance tasks. This role involves active, hands-on field work and direct oversight of a maintenance staff member to ensure our town remains in top condition.

Water and Wastewater Management

• Manage the daily operation, inspection, and upkeep of water distribution and sewer collection networks.
• Help ensure system reliability by troubleshooting and fixing pumps, lift stations, valves, meters, and hydrants.
• Provide rapid response to utility emergencies, including sewer clogs and water main breaks.
• Conduct necessary testing, water sampling, and detailed documentation to meet standards.
• Support infrastructure integrity by performing utility locates and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Equipment and Grounds Upkeep

• Safely utilize and care for municipal machinery such as backhoes, vac trucks, and wood chippers.
• Improve the community aesthetic by maintaining easements, rights-of-way, and public parks.
• Execute brush clearing, mowing, and storm debris removal to keep areas accessible.
• Help extend the lifespan of town assets by performing preventative maintenance and inspections on vehicles.

Infrastructure and Facility Care

• Execute necessary street repairs and manage drainage systems.
• Handle general facility upkeep, including minor electrical and plumbing tasks.
• Support local events through setup assistance and seasonal decorating.
• Ensure public safety and facility presentation through consistent maintenance efforts.

Leadership and Oversight

• Direct and collaborate with one maintenance team member.
• Foster a productive environment by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring safety protocols are met.
• Keep accurate records of daily and weekly operational logs.
• Present project updates and infrastructure status reports during monthly board meetings.

• Possession of a valid Class D Water Operator License.
• Possession of a valid Class D Wastewater Operator License.
• A clean driving record and a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
• Proven background in utilities, maintenance, or public works operations.
• Competency in the safe operation of heavy machinery.
• Solid understanding of wastewater and water system mechanics.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff and manage tasks autonomously.
• Strong capabilities in organization, communication, and analytical problem-solving.
• Physical stamina to perform outdoor duties across diverse weather conditions.

• Background in electrical utility systems.
• Expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining pump systems.
• Prior experience in a supervisory capacity within a municipal setting.

This role is primarily based outdoors and involves physical labor in various environmental conditions. Staff will operate in proximity to construction sites, heavy machinery, and municipal utility infrastructure.
