About the Role
As an Injection Mold Maintenance Specialist, you will serve as a vital technical resource for our manufacturing floor, ensuring that complex tooling remains in peak operating condition. You will leverage your expertise in mold mechanics and troubleshooting to minimize downtime, optimize cycle performance, and drive high-quality production outcomes.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve in-press production challenges, such as flash, sticking, or cosmetic defects, to maintain consistent output.
- Execute comprehensive mold maintenance, including tear-downs, component replacement, and precision cleaning to extend tool life.
- Manage the repair of hot runner systems, including electrical troubleshooting and thermal regulation, to ensure seamless operation.
- Perform advanced toolroom tasks such as machining, grinding, and welding to restore or modify mold components.
- Collaborate with production teams to support mold startups, trials, and process optimization initiatives.
- Maintain rigorous documentation for preventative maintenance schedules and repair logs to track tooling health.
- Utilize CAD software to reverse engineer damaged parts, ensuring precise fit and function for replacement components.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in plastic injection mold maintenance and repair.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC toolroom equipment, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
- Strong understanding of G-code, CAM programming, and mold construction prints.
- Expertise in troubleshooting hot runner systems and complex mold mechanisms.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in industrial environments.
Preferred Skills
- Technical certification in Tool & Die or related manufacturing disciplines.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
- Experience with EDM sinker/wire operations and precision micro-welding.
- Background in high-volume, tight-tolerance industries like medical or automotive manufacturing.
