What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Administrator position at Maverick Search Partners?
REGIONAL NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR | TEMPE, AZ | HYBRID Must be local to Phoenix metro — Only local candidates considered
Maverick Search Partners is conducting an exclusive search for a Regional Network Administrator on behalf of a well-established, nationally recognized organization based in Tempe, AZ.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role — not a security engineering or architecture position —
for someone who owns their region, keeps systems running, and takes documentation as seriously as uptime.
With nearly 2,100 employees across 95 U.S. locations in manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense, this company's infrastructure is mission-critical. Your work keeps it that way.
THIS IS THE RIGHT ROLE IF YOU:
- Have 7 years of hands-on Windows Server and Active Directory administration
- Have directly managed SonicWall firewalls — configuration, firmware updates, rule maintenance
- Have owned backup and disaster recovery documentation and quarterly DR testing
- Are comfortable as the generalist who handles servers, switches, WAN, wireless, and telecom
- Live in the Phoenix metro area and can commute to Tempe 3 days per week
THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT ROLE IF YOU ARE:
- A network security engineer focused on enterprise firewall policy and threat detection
- A cloud architect or DevOps/infrastructure-as-code professional
- Seeking a fully remote position
- Located outside the Phoenix metro area
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Administer servers end-to-end: break/fix, monitoring, patching, hardware lifecycle
- Manage server backups and maintain thorough backup documentation
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery documentation; conduct quarterly recovery tests
- Perform firewall administration — SonicWall configuration reviews, firmware updates, security maintenance
- Maintain network infrastructure: switches, WAN connectivity, wireless systems
- Provide Tier 1 support for Corporate Active Directory; Tier 2 for application servers (SQL, Exchange, SharePoint)
- Support telecom systems and assist with onboarding of new acquisitions
WHAT YOU BRING
- Local to Phoenix metro — Tempe office, 3 days/week hybrid schedule
- 7 years in network and systems administration (not security engineering)
- Hands-on SonicWall firewall experience — this is a hard differentiator for this role
- Windows Server, Active Directory, TCP/IP — core daily tools
- Strong documentation habits and disaster recovery experience
- U.S. Person status required (ITAR)
- IT certifications a plus, not required
COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS
- Hybrid: 3 days in Tempe office, 2 days remote
- After-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotation required
- Quarterly regional travel
- No relocation assistance — local candidates only
