What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Maui Arts & Cultural Center?
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center is seeking a full-time Accounting Clerk to join our team immediately. This position is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, long-term team member. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining financial records, handling data entry, and managing accounts payable, including processing invoices, making timely vendor payments, and reconciling vendor statements. This role also supports the accounting team with projects and tasks as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain and update vendor information in the accounting system
- Reconcile accounts and vendor statements
- Assist with annual processing and mailing of 1099s
- Support the accounting team with financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Great Plains is a plus
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude toward learning
- Highly adaptable and a strong team player
