As an Assistant Project Manager, you are a vital connector for our project teams. You will support the Project Manager and Superintendent by driving coordination, managing project details, and building positive relationships with everyone involved. Your work ensures that our projects run smoothly, stay on track, and are delivered with the quality and care Matukat is known for.
Building Effective Relationships
- Assist Estimating and Preconstruction teams during handoff to Operations.
- Prioritize and support the Superintendent and field team directly.
- Build and maintain relationships with Subcontractors, Owners, and Design Teams.
- Confidently run OAC and Foreman meetings.
- Maintain awareness of networking and business development opportunities.
- Exhibit strong self-awareness and actively pursue self-improvement.
- Model professional communication, leadership, and people development.
Communication/Coordination
- Lead internal and external coordination, including welcome packages and subcontractor readiness.
- Read and understand subcontract scopes to resolve issues and process change orders.
- Delegate tasks and follow up proactively with team members.
- Coordinate with field staff and subcontractors to resolve jobsite issues with minimal input from PMs.
- Schedule and lead owner training and closeout meetings with subcontractors.
- Coordinate and run BIM meetings when applicable.
- Serve as a communication model using email, calls, meetings, and written documentation.
Cost Control
- Review and process PCI logs accurately.
- Manage and track subcontractor tickets and changes.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of change management; negotiate COs as needed.
- Participate in subcontractor buyout of select trades and scope items.
- Help reconcile monthly cost forecasts and communicate PCI risks with PMs and senior staff.
Document Control
- Oversee RFIs and submittals; ensure timely responses and clarity.
- Track meeting minutes and action items, following up as needed.
- Lead Autodesk (or similar) setup and ensure redline updates and document accuracy.
- Start closeout documentation early; ensure full turnover of O&M manuals, warranties, and training documents.
Procurement
- Maintain and update procurement logs across scopes.
- Coordinate procurement meetings and track long-lead items and risks.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of procurement, including submittal review and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with PEs and field teams to ensure schedule alignment with deliveries.
- Oversee all project purchasing in coordination with the Superintendent and PM.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Implement site-specific quality plans (SSQP).
- Coordinate pre-install meetings and mockups.
- Lead the punch list process from pre-punch through final walk.
- Verify material installations against contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and coordination drawings.
Risk Management
- Maintain ownership of the project QA/QC plan and implementation.
- Identify at-risk subcontractors and mitigate issues proactively.
- Assist in updating and managing schedules alongside field staff.
- Participate in the safety program and hold OSHA-30 certification.
- Capable of fulfilling short-term needs in field supervision if required.

- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in the construction industry, with exposure to project management roles.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management fundamentals, including cost control, scheduling, and document management.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Build) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Health Insurance
- Health insurance benefits kick in after 90 days of employment.
- Matukat covers 100% of employees on an average silver plan through ICHRA health insurance.
- Employees can choose coverage that best fits their needs and keep their in-network doctors.
- Part-time or temporary employees are not eligible.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Full-time employees receive 12 days of PTO and 8 paid holidays annually after 90 days of employment.
- PTO covers all absences (vacation, sick, etc.) but must be requested a month in advance for vacations longer than 10 days.
- Unused PTO does not carry over.
- Part-time/temporary employees are not eligible.
401K Match
- Matukat offers a company match on employee contributions to the retirement plan.
- When you contribute at least 5% of your eligible compensation, Matukat will match 4%.
- The company match is capped at 4% and is only available when you contribute at least 5%.
