Mattern & Craig is growing in North Carolina! We are an employee-owned Engineering and Survey Firm looking for talented individuals to join our team in our office location in Hickory, NC. The team currently has openings in civil engineering design and project management.
This is a Civil Project Engineer position in the North Carolina Foothills market. The focus of this position is design and construction document production for municipal roadway, hydraulic, bridge, and other multi-modal linear or commercial site development based civil projects. Applicants must be proficient with general civil engineering, hydraulics and stormwater management, and environmental permitting processes. The position requires working knowledge of permit & plan preparation using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/GeoPAK and application of Municipal & NCDOT design standards and project delivery methodology. Beyond project design, this role includes an opportunity for advancement to project and team management.
Minimum Requirements:
- NC Registered PE preferred or ability to obtain licensure within 1 year
- BSCE from ABET accredited engineering program
- Excellent engineering design and communication skills
- Minimum of 3 years experience in civil engineering and client services
Preferred Skills:
- Previous municipal client and project development experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a design team is highly valued
- Engage in multiple civil design and transportation projects
- Design for site grading & drainage, hydraulics & hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, sanitary collection systems, storage tanks and reservoirs, stormwater infrastructure & treatment
- Experience & knowledge of environmental permitting processes
- Maintain schedules & budgets and provide QA/QC for design criteria and regulatory requirements
- Coordination experience with NCDOT, municipal clients, sub-consultants, stakeholders and agencies
