The Opportunity
Matsuura Machinery USA is expanding its sales organization with a new Area Sales Manager role focused on strengthening our presence across New England area. This is not a replacement role; it’s a strategic growth position that reflects our long‑term commitment to the region. The ASM will play a key role in building market share, deepening customer relationships, and representing the Matsuura brand with credibility and trust.
Matsuura is a 90‑year‑old, family‑owned machine tool builder, globally recognized for engineering excellence, long‑term thinking, and machines built to perform for decades—not just sales cycles.
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Sales, offering high visibility, meaningful influence, and a direct voice in shaping sales strategy and execution.
We’re seeking a driven sales professional with strong technical acumen—especially in five‑axis machining—who values accountability, discipline, and winning the right way.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, manage, and grow sales within the Ohio/Indiana territory
- Represent Matsuura’s five-axis machining solutions with technical confidence and integrity
- Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships built on trust and performance
- Execute territory planning, forecasting, and goal attainment
- Manage and oversee extensive travel requirements (50% expected)
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all travel required to support sales objectives
- Consistently pursue and exceed clearly defined sales targets
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with five-axis machining (required)
- Minimum of 2 years CNC machine tool sales experience
- College degree preferred
- Strong work ethic with consistent attention to detail
- Highly goal-oriented and self-motivated
- Background in team sports or comparable competitive environments—demonstrates an understanding of how to win with humility, lose with accountability, and compete with respect
- Resilient, coachable, and team-first in approach
- Strong character and ethics are non-negotiable
