What you’ll do:
As a Business Analyst supporting our logistics operations, you’ll play a key role in translating data into actionable insights that improve efficiency, speed, and visibility across the organization.
You will:
- Analyze logistics and operational data to uncover trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design, build, and maintain custom reporting solutions using Microsoft Access, pulling data from the miLogistx Oracle environment.
- Develop intuitive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and collaborate on Tableau initiatives as needed.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data with a strong focus on accuracy and performance.
- Maintain and enhance existing Access databases (including MLHU reporting tools) while helping transition legacy solutions to modern BI platforms.
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into clear, effective reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with the data services team as logistics data becomes available in the data lake, helping enable Power BI adoption and training users on new reporting capabilities.
- Document data sources, business rules, and report logic to ensure transparency and continuity.
- Accelerate time to market by delivering flexible, self service reporting without heavy reliance on development teams.
- Improve decision making through clear, trusted, and actionable analytics.
- Help advance Matson’s analytics maturity by supporting the shift from legacy tools to scalable, modern BI solutions.
- Enable operational teams with the data they need to serve customers reliably and efficiently.
- Experience with ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, or MySQL.
- Knowledge of Python, VBA, or other scripting/automation tools.
- Familiarity with Power Automate, RPA workflows, or automation escalation processes.
- Exposure to AI technologies and their application in business analytics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Logistics, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst required, preferably in the logistics or supply chain domain.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Access, Power BI, and SQL; experience with Tableau strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of relational databases and the ability to quickly learn Oracle ERP data structures.
- Experience with logistics KPIs, operational metrics, and data quality best practices.
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator who can translate technical concepts for non technical partners.
- This is an office based role requiring prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to work at a computer. Occasional lifting (up to 10 lbs.) may be required. Standard vision, hearing, and manual dexterity appropriate for office based analytical work are necessary.
