We are seeking a Plastics Project Engineer to coordinate tooling, mold design, equipment, and continuous improvement projects that support efficient production molding operations. Your primary focus will be on engineering-driven projects – such as customer-initiated product development, modifications, and R&D initiatives – with a heavy emphasis on CAD design and tool debug support tasks.

Primary duties:

  • CAD Modifications: Execute mold design changes to optimize tooling and molded part quality.
  • Data Management: Maintain mold designs in the company PDM (Product Data Management) system for revision and security control.
  • Print Generation: Produce accurate assembly and build prints for Mold Repair, Changeover, and Tooling personnel to support ongoing customer needs.
  • Tool Debug: Coordinate customer-driven debug and development activities to release molds into an approved production state.
  • CAPA Execution: Lead improvement projects driven by corrective and / or preventive action initiatives that improve molded part quality and lessens production personnel burden.
  • Program Management: Lead new and transfer tooling projects to release molds into an approved production state.
  • Continuous Improvement: Manage facility and tooling improvement projects to eliminate manufacturing inefficiencies and quality defects.
  • Client Interface: Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to manage engineering changes, communicate project milestones, and ensure production success.

Basic Qualifications:

Interested candidates should have a Plastics Engineering degree (or equivalent technical discipline) and 6-to-24 months of hands-on experience in a plastic injection molding environment. A solid familiarity with precision processing techniques, scientific molding practices, and equipment set-up/sampling procedures is required. Candidates should also have a strong grasp of CAD drafting and mold design principles; familiarity with SolidWorks is preferred. Essential skills include strong math proficiency, blueprint reading and advanced computer literacy. We seek a motivated professional with a take-charge attitude, a strong independent work ethic, excellent problem solving and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and capable of managing tight timelines to reliably meet production schedules in a dynamic, fast paced, systems-driven team environment.
