Position Overview:
Matrix Metals Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our growing team. This full-time, on-site role will support the design and engineering process by creating accurate technical drawings, 3D models, flat patterns, and production-ready documentation.
The ideal candidate will have experience in metal fabrication design, strong technical proficiency in CAD/CAM software, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design parts, Import CAD files, create nests and generate NC Code.
- Design, Import CAD files, prepare drawings using SolidWorks and generate in-house drawings from customer supplied drawings.
- Create nest and generate NC Code for Laser Cutting, Punching and Press Brake Forming using CAM Software.
- Collaborate with Production to determine best method for fabricating the desired part. This brainstorming requires strong mechanical aptitude.
- Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
- Design is heavily in steel and aluminum.
- Fill out required paperwork to release drawings/job on the production floor.
- Change control and manage drawing database.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Perform miscellaneous duties as the job requires or as assigned by management.
- Help in other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 3 years of experience with SolidWorks, nesting and generating NC Code using CAD/CAM Software
- 3 years of experience in the sheet metal manufacturing industry
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, bend deductions, and manufacturing tolerances
- Mechanical drafting and manufacturing experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as dial calipers, squares, and other measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow detailed instructions
