CNC Machinist Apprentice

Position Summary

Passionate about firearms? Matrix Precision Arms is now hiring a CNC Machinist Apprentice who will be responsible for programming, setting up and running machines for tools, parts, and fixtures.

This is an apprentice position. We are looking for someone who is familiar with the basics of fabrication and machine shop work. The applicant will receive on-the-job training in a wide variety of machining processes. Matrix is a family owned shop looking for a long term employee who is motivated to learn and cultivate skills.

The apprentice tasks include but are not limited to- tool identification and selection, G-Code programming, designing and prototyping fixtures, and setting up running a variety of machines. The ideal candidate is someone who is able to work quickly and precisely with their hands, cares about producing a high quality, precise product, and is passionate about our primary industry, firearms.

Responsibilities

• Reading drawings and prototyping parts
• Setting up and tearing down jobs
• G-Code programming
• Establishing and documenting processes for jobs
• First article and in process QC/ Inspection

Qualifications

• Familiarity with metalworking and hand tools.
• Ability to stand while working for extended periods of time
• Attentive to detail and precise in creating and repeating a process
• Coachable and a quick learner
• Dependable and responsible
• Must submit to background check and random drug tests
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds

Preferred

• Experience with mills and lathes
• Swiss Lathe setup and operation experience
• Fanuc Mill-Turn operation experience
• Able to learn and self teach how to run new machines and software
• Able to go from drawing to prototype to production
• Experience with Fusion 360 CAM

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
