Project Accountant - Construction Industry
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant with construction industry experience to manage project-based accounting activities, primarily focusing on billing, progress invoicing, and collaboration with project managers. Experience with Workday is highly preferred. This role supports the accounting and project management teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, cash flow, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and issue client invoices for project work, including time-and-material, fixed-price, and AIA billings (G702/G703), ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Manage project billing lifecycle: apply approved change orders, track retainage, progress billings, and milestone invoicing; coordinate with subcontractors for invoicing and releases.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and work-in-progress (WIP); maintain accurate job cost data and ensure alignment with GL.
- Maintain and update Workday Projects module (or equivalent ERP): set up new projects, assign cost codes, track hours, costs, and billables; generate standard and ad-hoc billing reports.
- Reconcile project-related AP and submittals; validate subcontractor invoices against milestones and approved changes; ensure timely processing.
- Support revenue recognition and month-end close activities; assist with WIP schedules, aging analyses, and forecast updates.
- Collaborate with project managers, PMO, and field teams to obtain timely approvals and resolve billing discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of project accounting, construction billing, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of construction billing practices
- Experience with Workday Financial Management (Projects, Billing, Revenue) is highly preferred; or comparable ERP systems with the ability to quickly learn Workday.
- Proficiency in Excel (vLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis) and strong data-typing accuracy.
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS relevant to construction contexts and internal control requirements.
