What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Analyst position at Matlen Silver?
MUST HAVE:
- 5 years in data governance or data management, ideally at a bank or in financial services
- Uses Collibra every day: business glossary, data definitions, CDEs, ownership and lineage
- Documents metadata and source-to-target mappings, and traces data from upstream systems to reports
- Gathers requirements from data owners and stewards and turns them into documentation
- Comfortable using SQL to profile and validate data
Nice to have:
- Data quality: defining DQ rules, metrics and scorecards, and supporting root cause analysis
- Collibra workflows: defining approval steps, testing workflows and troubleshooting them alongside developers
- Collibra certification: Ranger, Data Steward or Data Citizen
- Regulatory experience: BCBS 239, CCAR, SOX or other banking data requirements
- Agile/Jira: writing user stories, acceptance criteria and backlog items
- Other catalog tools: Informatica (Axon/EDC), Alation or Purview
- Light scripting: basic Python or Excel automation for bulk metadata updates
- Cloud migration exposure: helping re-catalog data or check lineage after a platform move
