What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer — Additive Manufacturing Software position at Materialise?
What you will do
- Support customers in the optimal use of Materialise additive manufacturing software across the AM workflow, including design preparation, build processing, simulation, and production management
- Engage directly with customers to assess technical requirements, AM workflows, and production challenges, and recommend appropriate software solutions
- Deliver compelling technical demonstrations of AM software via web-based platforms and on-site customer visits
- Partner closely with the sales team to support solution selling, proof-of-concept activities, and customer evaluations
- Provide technical demonstrations and customer support at trade shows, industry conferences, and AM-focused events
- Act as a technical liaison between customers and the software development team by communicating customer feedback, feature requests, and application requirements
- Develop a deep understanding of customer products, AM applications, business objectives, and industry trends to identify opportunities for Materialise solutions
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers at all organizational levels, from engineers to decision-makers
- Network within the additive manufacturing ecosystem, including OEMs, service bureaus, and end users, to strengthen Materialise’s industry presence
- 3 – 5 years of experience in sales engineering or application engineering with a strong focus on solution selling in additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with CAD and additive manufacturing software, including build preparation, support generation, and production workflows
- Solid understanding of AM technologies (e.g., powder bed fusion, material extrusion, resin-based processes) and their industrial applications
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and customer-facing skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
- Experience working with industrial AM customers, service bureaus, or OEMs
- Familiarity with AM production environments and digital manufacturing workflows
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with sales, product management, and software development teams
- Willingness to travel for customer visits, demonstrations, and industry events
