SUMMARY
The Civil/Agricultural Engineer supports agricultural, environmental, and civil engineering projects for public and private sector clients throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states. This position is responsible for planning, design, permitting, and construction support associated with agricultural facilities, stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control measures, and water resource infrastructure.
This role is in person and can be based at Material Matters’ Middletown, PA or Pittsburgh, PA office locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare engineering designs, calculations, and construction documents for agricultural facilities, livestock operations, manure storage structures, farm infrastructure improvements, and related site development projects.
· Develop grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater management plans for agricultural and rural development projects AutoCAD Civil 3D.
· Assist with design and implementation of agricultural best management practices (BMPs) and conservation measures.
· Prepare technical narratives, reports, calculations, and supporting documentation for permit submissions and client deliverables.
· Support coordination efforts with landowners, municipalities, conservation districts, contractors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project permitting and implementation.
· Interpret state and federal regulations and apply permitting requirements to project design and implementation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
· 3–5 years of professional consulting or engineering experience in agricultural engineering, civil/site design, stormwater management, water resources, environmental permitting, or related fields.
· Working proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for preparation of engineering plans, grading layouts, drainage designs, and permitting exhibits.
· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or obtained within six months of hire.
· Demonstrated progression toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
· Experience erosion and sediment control plans, and post-construction stormwater management plans.
· Experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and preparing supporting calculations.
