SUMMARY
The CAD Designer supports agricultural, environmental, and civil engineering projects for public and private sector clients. This position is responsible for preparing high-quality engineering drawings, plan sets, exhibits, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The CAD Designer works closely with engineers and project managers to develop accurate designs for agricultural facilities, stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control measures, utility layouts, and other site development projects.
This role is in person and can be based at Material Matters’ Middletown, PA or Pittsburgh, PA office locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare engineering drawings, construction plan sets, and permitting exhibits for agricultural, environmental, and civil engineering projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
· Develop site layout, grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control plans from engineering calculations, survey data, and project information.
· Produce profiles, cross sections, construction details, quantity estimates, and other supporting design documents for project deliverables.
· Incorporate survey data, GIS information, aerial imagery, and field information into project drawings and maintain revisions throughout design, permitting, and construction.
· Coordinate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, clients, and regulatory agencies to produce accurate, timely, and high-quality construction documents.
· Maintain company CAD standards and perform quality assurance reviews to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and consistent prior to submittal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate's degree or technical certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
· Minimum of three (3) years of professional CAD drafting or design experience in civil engineering, agricultural engineering, land development, environmental consulting, or related fields.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface creation, grading, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, and plan production.
· Experience preparing construction plans for stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, agricultural facilities, utilities, or site development projects.
· Familiarity with GIS software, survey data processing, and digital terrain models is a plus.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
