OBD Test Cell Engineer

Overview:
Conduct and document engine or vehicle testing to validate OBD monitors for newly developed diesel products
Responsibilities:
Using established work instructions and input from development engineers, write test plans to assess On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) monitors on diesel on-highway engines in engine or chassis dynamometer test cells
• Execute test plan with support of technicians from Test Operations. Troubleshoot issues with engine or vehicle, and test-cell that prevent execution of the test plan
• Work with OBD Tuning Development engineer, to understand OBD monitor testing and review test plans on test cycles are appropriate and thorough
• Conduct basic quality checks and standard analysis on resulting data using established work instructions and procedures
• Organize and communicate data and results to OBD tuning development engineers
• Document results for submission to regulatory agencies.
• Periodically on call nights and weekends to address issues at the test cells to keep tests running
Requirements:
BS in an engineering field
• Experience running or directing an engine or chassis dynamometer test cell.
• Experience with analysis of test data
• Familiar with Diesel engine and aftertreatment system Familiar with Test Cell operation & data acquisition
• Understanding of Heavy-Duty/Medium-Duty OBD regulations and engine performance
• Familiar and comfortable with data manipulation, processing, and analysis. Specific analysis tools will be taught.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with other engineers and with technicians
• Familiar with DDV (Durability Demonstration Vehicle) Demo, Pre-Certification Demonstration, Certification Cycle Demonstration support from past experience is preferred
• Familiar with ARB & EPA standards for OBD testing is preferred
