We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our client, a well-established and growing homebuilder. This role is responsible for the accurate processing of payroll, maintenance of HRIS data, reporting, compliance filings, and benefits administration. This position plays a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and overall data integrity across the organization.

Payroll & Benefits Specialist Responsibilities
- Process and audit bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy of earnings, deductions, and employee data.
- Ensure payroll complies with all federal, state, and company requirements, including wage-and-hour regulations.
- Review and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping, PTO, benefits deductions, and compensation changes.
- Maintain HRIS and employee data records, ensuring accuracy across compensation, benefits, and reporting fields.
- Generate payroll, benefits, compensation, and headcount reports to support HR, Accounting, and leadership.
- Maintain data integrity within HRIS, including payroll setup, benefits deductions, and reporting accuracy.
- Develop and manage complex spreadsheets and tracking tools for payroll, benefits, and reporting.
- Analyze payroll, benefits, and HRIS data to identify discrepancies, trends, and reporting needs.
- Process employment verifications, unemployment claims, and related documentation.
- Ensure accurate processing of final pay, adjustments, and special payroll transactions.
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll, benefits, and HR records.
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HRIS.
- Prepare and support required filings, including 1095, 5500, EEO-1, workers’ compensation, and unemployment reporting.
- Assist with benefits census reporting and 401(k) data submissions.
- Administer and track employee leave programs, including FMLA and other protected leaves.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable regulations related to payroll, benefits, and employee data.
- Maintain ACA tracking data, including eligibility and measurement periods.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, reporting, and invoice reconciliation.
- Lead annual open enrollment in coordination with benefits partners, including planning, communication, and reporting.
- Coordinate benefits-related initiatives such as employee meetings and wellness events.
- Maintain and troubleshoot HRIS systems to ensure accurate reporting and system functionality.
- Review payroll and benefits-related billings and assist with reconciliations and reporting.
- Support HR initiatives, reporting projects, and process improvements as needed.
Payroll & Benefits Specialist Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in payroll, HRIS, benefits, or a related analytical HR or finance role required.
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems required, with UKG preferred.
- Experience with payroll processing, reporting, and reconciliations strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting audits, reporting, or compliance filings preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential information and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
