The Journeyman Cable Splicer will have all of the following illustrative tasks.
- Accomplishes construction and maintenance splicing in a safe, efficient manner to comply with Association, RUS, and industry standards.
```
- Installs, repairs and maintains equipment related to splicing fiber optic and copper cable assemblies.
```
- Performs required testing on completed jobs to ensure trouble free service and properly record data as required.
Journeyman Cable Splicer is required to have some or all of the following:
- Knowledge of association, RUS, industry standards and the color code as related to fiber optic and copper cable splicing and repair.
```
- Must be able to safely climb poles, operate bucket trucks, and work from a Ladder.
```
- Must have the ability to accept responsibility and to work under stressful situations.
```
- Must be able to neatly and accurately record splicing functions on as-builts.
```
- Must have the ability to accomplish detail type work in accordance with industry and association standards with journeyman level craftsmanship.
```
- Must have the ability to work in FTTH, FTTB, fiber transport without unscheduled interruption to services.
```
- Must have the ability to work in POTS, span line and circuits without unscheduled interruption to services.
```
- Must be able to interpret cable records and cutsheets.

- Must have working knowledge of core alignment single and ribbon fusion splicing practices.
```
- Must have the ability to install and maintain fiber optic splice cases, patch panels, building terminals, FDH and pedestals.
- Must have working knowledge of 3M MS2 and connector splicing practices.
- Must have the ability to install and maintain copper splice cases, building terminals, cross connects and pedestals.
- A general working knowledge of fiber optic and copper cable restoration.
- Must have basic computer skills to access mapping programs and interpret fiber optic traces and record results.
