About the Role
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Masters Academy International (MAI) is a pivotal role responsible for designing and executing sport-specific performance programs that integrate elite athletic training with the school’s high-tier academic mission. This role will provide on-floor coaching, conduct detailed athlete assessments, and manage weight room operations to enhance performance while prioritizing injury reduction. Ultimately, you will serve as a mentor within a Tier 1 independent school environment, demanding a blend of technical expertise in movement mechanics and a commitment to maintaining a world-class training culture.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will design and execute sport-specific strength, power, and speed programs tailored to both teams and individual student-athletes. Additionally, you will oversee daily weight room operations, collaborate with sports medicine staff on injury reduction and return-to-play protocols, and maintain a high-performance environment.
Who You Are
You are a highly skilled instructor with a deep commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes and a mastery of resistance training, plyometrics, and speed mechanics. You are an organized and hardworking leader capable of managing complex weight room operations and adapting periodization strategies across multiple concurrent sport seasons.
Qualifications
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or closely related field.
•Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of hands-on experience coaching strength & conditioning, ideally with competitive athletes (high school, collegiate, or semi‑professional). Experience in a prep school environment is preferred.
•Credentials: Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the NSCA (or equivalent accredited certification); Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
•Expertise: Demonstrated competency teaching and coaching resistance training exercises, plyometrics, speed & agility mechanics, and movement screening tools.
•Knowledge: Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver concise coaching cues; Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel with teams as needed.
