(affiliated sites: Master Heo's Tae Kwon Do Child Care – Holyoke, ON N ON Community Child Care – Springfield, and First After School Care – Springfield) provides a safe and supportive environment for children in the Holyoke and Springfield communities. Our programs focus on student safety, structure, and positive development.
We are seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Staff / Janitor to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across multiple locations. This role involves general housekeeping, floor care, and minor facility maintenance. Because our programs operate in an EEC-regulated child care environment, this position requires adherence to state safety standards and completion of required background checks and training.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
- 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturday / Sunday
- As needed (up to 8 hours per day)
This position is ideal for someone seeking part-time maintenance work with occasional weekend opportunities.
Responsibilities
General Cleaning & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of indoor and outdoor facilities
- Prepare the facility before and after program hours
- Empty and refresh trash bins daily
- Perform general cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance tasks following EEC sanitization protocols
- Perform floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, and deep carpet cleaning
- Conduct minor facility repairs including interior painting and small maintenance tasks
Safety & Child Care Environment Standards
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for students and staff
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored in locked, inaccessible areas
- Never leave tools, cleaning equipment, or supplies unattended around children
- Identify and remove potential hazards such as tripping risks, sharp edges, or unsafe materials
Facility Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor facility conditions and report maintenance issues to the supervisor
- Maintain the functionality of facility systems including lighting, plumbing, electrical fixtures, and furniture
- Monitor janitorial and facility supply inventory and report shortages when necessary
- Document site visits and completed work through basic written reports
Logistics
- Travel between assigned sites using a reliable personal vehicle
Mandatory Requirements & Training
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license required
- At least 1 year of housekeeping, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred
- Must successfully complete the EEC Background Record Check (BRC) for Janitor and if interested in 7D driver, CORI, DCF, and SORI checks.
- Completion of the EEC Essentials 2.0 training series (approximately 10 hours covering health, safety, and child development) is required before or shortly after hire.
