As a fiber technician you will be responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, and disconnecting cable services including video, data, and telephone. Performs hands-on field work involving the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems and related equipment. In some service areas, the technician supports dual-platform environments requiring knowledge of both coaxial and fiber technologies, while ensuring all work complies with established safety policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
-Install, splice, and terminate fiber-optic and coax cables in indoor and outdoor environments
-Test connections and perform quality checks to ensure proper service
-Troubleshoot and repair service issues when needed
-Maintain accurate documentation of installations and equipment used
-Interact professionally with customers and provide technical support
-Follow all safety policies and procedures while working in the field
-Manage basic inventory and tools assigned for installations
Requirements
-High School Diploma or GED (fiber technician training or certification is a plus).
-Professional experience -with tools.
-Experience with fiber or coax cable installation preferred.
-Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
-Ability to lift 60–80 lbs and climb 28–36 ft ladders.
-Valid driver’s license.
-Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends or evenings as needed).
-Must successfully pass a background check, drug test, and driving record check.
-Willingness to attend 4 weeks of training: 2 weeks in Garner, NC (hotel provided if qualified), and 2 weeks in the field.*
