Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL, for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will serve as the lead and primary point of contact for a portfolio of luxury condominium and high-end multifamily development projects. This role owns the monthly close, journal entries, financial reporting, lender requisitions, and project-level accounting coordination from development through stabilization. Through direct exposure to lenders, partners, property managers, contractors and internal leadership, this is an ideal opportunity for a driven accountant who wants more than a traditional close process role.
Key Responsibilities:
Development/Construction Accounting:
· Lead the monthly accounting responsibilities for a mix of condominium and multifamily development projects.
· Review coding of contractor/vendor invoices and coordinate timely review and approval by authorized parties.
· Prepare and submit monthly construction loan requisitions to ensure timely funding.
· Coordinate review of monthly general contractor pay applications with the lender consultants.
· Lead the waiver review process and related Lender submissions.
· Field all lender, partner, contractor and vendor follow-ups for assigned projects.
· Handle weekly and monthly reconciliations for buyer deposits and other funding sources.
· Onboarding property management companies as assets become operational.
Financial Reporting:
· Prepare all monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.
· Prepare stand-alone and consolidating financial statements.
· Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations.
· Review monthly reporting packages from third-party property management companies.
· Lead annual audits for assigned projects and coordinate requests with the property managers.
· Track lender and partner reporting requirements and manage related compliance deadlines.
· Assist with annual Tax reporting and distribution of investor K-1’s.
Vendor Management:
· Work directly with the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure all necessary information is received in a timely manner.
· Assist with review of annual 1099 reporting.
· Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries.
· Coordinate all payments and field vendor inquiries.
Process Improvement:
· Identify, develop, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
· Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, industry best practices, and development accounting processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 2-3 years of professional accounting experience.
· Public accounting experience is preferred; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus.
· CPA or active CPA track preferred.
· Real estate, construction, or development accounting experience is a plus.
· Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi experience a plus) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
· Ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, and shifting properties.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
