Senior Staff Accountant

Discovery Senior Living is an industry-leading developer, manager and operator of senior living communities. We're currently seeking a highly professional, experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. As a key part of the Accounting team, the Senior Staff Accountant will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of financial commitments and ensure accurate accounting records.

Responsibilities

• The Senior Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries and schedules while assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Completing detailed account analyses and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
• Recording month-end closing entries such as accruals, prepayments and adjusting entries.
• Assisting the Finance team in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
• Participating in annual audits and providing information and backup to auditors.
• Optimizing processes and controls, recommending and implementing best practices.
• Maintaining confidentiality and discretion across key business information and sensitive financial data.
  
  

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required for this position. A CPA or Masters in Accounting is considered a plus.
• Candidates should have at least 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with accounting software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics GP/ Great Plains is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, technical, and auditing skills, including proficiency in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with management and cross-functional teams.
