Position Overview
The Office of Institutional Research (IR) at Massasoit Community College plays a critical role in advancing student success and institutional effectiveness through data-informed decision making. In alignment with the College's strategic plan, IR delivers timely, relevant, and actionable insights that support planning, strengthen programs and services, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The Research Assistant will contribute to the development of interactive dashboards, analyses, and reports that highlight student needs and inform strategic initiatives. This part-time role helps transform complex data into accessible, meaningful information that supports progress toward institutional goals and student achievement.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Analyze institutional data, including enrollment, retention, completion, and other key metrics to inform decision-making and track progress.
- Conduct statistical analyses using SPSS, Excel, and other tools to support ongoing reporting and special projects.
- Translate complex data into dashboard visualizations, summaries, and reports tailored to the needs of various campus audiences and external stakeholders.
- Assist with survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting for institutional and grant-funded initiatives.
- Contribute to data quality, documentation, and reporting processes that support program review, NECHE accreditation, and strategic priorities.
- Support data literacy by helping college stakeholders understand, interpret, and use data effectively.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience conducting data analysis and applied research using quantitative or qualitative methods.
- Proficiency in SPSS (or equivalent statistical software) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
- Experience working in higher education in a research or assessment role.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner, Argos, or comparable information systems.
Additional Information:
Position Status: Part-time, non-unit, non-benefited position
Hours: 18 hours/week (Not to exceed 936 hours annually), on campus, with some scheduling flexibility
Salary: $36.55 per hour
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
