General Responsibilities

Please note: This is a non-benefited, part-time (20 hours per week) position.

This position will prepare, prioritize, and process documents for scanning, electronic file conversion, electronic stamping, indexing, and document delivery. Responsibilities include the maintenance of scanning equipment and resolving minor technical issues. Must be able to operate scanning equipment including Ricoh, Kodak, Canon, Minolta, and similar devices.

In addition to document scanning responsibilities, this position will assist the Information Technology department with digital accessibility initiatives to support compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title II of the ADA. Responsibilities include remediating electronic documents (such as PDFs, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations), performing accessibility quality assurance, assisting departments with accessible document creation, and supporting campus-wide efforts to improve the accessibility of digital content

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, prepare, and process projects for document scanning, electronic conversion, indexing, and stamping.
  • Check specifications on the request form for accuracy, quality and time requirements.
  • Upon completion of processing documents/ electronic files quality check production and then output to the client's specified delivery media.
  • Maintain scanner quality (i.e. cleaning lens, reporting mechanical failures). Maintain required levels of quality and rates of production
  • Complete data entry in supporting databases for new and modified documents.
  • Assist with remediation of electronic documents to meet ADA Title II and WCAG accessibility standards
  • Review PDF, Microsoft Office, and other electronic documents for accessibility compliance using approved software and manual testing techniques.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to improve the accessibility of digital content.
  • Maintain documentation and track accessibility remediation efforts as part of institutional compliance initiatives.
  • Learn and utilize accessibility tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Ally, Grackle, or similar applications.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Manager, Assistant Manager and Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Expertise interfacing with business stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail in work required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to use online meeting tools such as Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with ADA Title II requirements, WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify accessibility issues in digital documents.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accessibility standards and institutional policies.
  • Ability to learn new accessibility software and document remediation techniques.
  • Strong customer service skills when assisting faculty and staff with accessible content creation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the document management system SoftDocs.
  • Experience remediating accessible PDF and Microsoft Office documents.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.

Salary

$25.00 per hour
