What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Respiratory Therapist - Full Time - Days/Nights position at Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association?
Role: Provides respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in-patients and out-patients across all ages.
Responsibilities: Performs therapeutic procedures, reviews and documents clinical information, educates patients and staff, conducts diagnostic tests, and adapts care to patient needs. Supports physicians with treatments, monitors and weans oxygen therapy and ventilation, and manages artificial airways. Ensures compliance with policies, laws, and safety standards.
Qualifications: Requires an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's preferred), current state license as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC certification, and BLS certification. ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Skills: Proficient in computer use, effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt procedures to diverse patient populations.
Physical Demands & Environment: Must handle heavy physical activity, including lifting and moving objects, and work in patient care environments with exposure to biological hazards and infectious materials. Flexibility for varied shifts and travel is essential.
Other duties include maintaining compliance, staying updated on regulations, and participating in continuous education.
