Job Description:

Collective Bargaining Agreement: This position is governed by the MSCA collective bargaining agreement


Hours: 37.5


Salary Range: $68,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience.


Position Overview:

MassArt invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to lead and shape the newly developed Creative Entrepreneurship Minor. We seek a dynamic, visionary, educator-practitioner committed to interdisciplinary teaching, curricular innovation, and program leadership at the intersection of the arts, business, technology, and social impact.

This is a unique opportunity to design and implement a curriculum that empowers students to transform creative ideas into sustainable ventures and social enterprises.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Curriculum Development & Teaching:
    • Develop and teach undergraduate courses in creative entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary practice.
    • Collaborate with faculty across departments (e.g., fine arts, design, humanities, sciences, business, technology and library) to deliver a rich and diverse curriculum.
    • Advise students enrolled in the minor and mentor them on project development, internships, and career paths.

  • Program Leadership:
    • Provide intellectual and administrative leadership for the Creative Entrepreneurship Minor.
    • Oversee and coordinate the design, assessment, and continual improvement of the minor's curriculum.
    • Schedule classes and coordinate faculty teaching assignments in collaboration with the department chair and academic dean.
  • External Partnerships & Community Engagement:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners including creative professionals, startups, arts organizations, funders, and incubators.
    • Build networks for student internships, mentorships, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Scholarship/Professional Practice:
    • Maintain an active scholarly or creative research agenda relevant to interdisciplinary entrepreneurship, innovation, or creative economies.
    • Participate in academic service and contribute to the life of the department and institution.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree (e.g., MFA, MBA, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as arts, design, entrepreneurship, business, creative industries, interdisciplinary studies, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and program administration.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
  • A record of creative, entrepreneurial, or scholarly work that bridges disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading or launching interdisciplinary programs.
  • Experience working with external partners and community organizations.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, resource development, donor cultivation, foundations, and/or public-private partnerships to support program growth and student initiatives.
  • A collaborative and innovative teaching philosophy that supports diverse learners.
