Job Description:

Hours: up to 19.75

Salary: $30.00 per hour

MassArt is seeking life models of all body types over the age of 18 to pose for on campus studio classes. One year of modeling or equivalent experience required.

Life Models are an integral component of the MassArt curriculum. Models pose for a variety of classes ranging from the Undergraduate, Graduate and Continuing Education programs. Life models provide students an opportunity to develop their craft in a professional environment, assisting students with their perceptual drawing skills and developing an understanding of anatomy, proportions, movement and the many shapes of the human body.

Essential Duties

  • Pose for studio art classes, open drawing sessions and in gallery programs. Model poses include, nude, costume/clothed and portraiture.
  • Be physically able to provide a full range of gestures and poses, sustained poses may be upward of 20 minutes. Be able to re-established posed positions after breaks.
  • Sessions run between 2.5 and 5 hours and typically take place during the following class blocks: 8:00am-1:00pm, 1:30pm-6:30pm and 6:30pm-9:30pm

Schedule

Models are hired as contract employees and are paid an hourly rate of $30. MassArt maintains a pool of life models in order to provide variety in the studios according to the needs of the curriculum. Models are hired and scheduled on an as-needed basis. This is considered to be temporary/on-call employment. There is no guarantee that models will be scheduled for a specific number of hours each semester. This position requires a successful background check.



Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience with life modeling or related field.
  • Be physically able to provide a full range of gestures and poses, sustained poses may be upward of 20 minutes. Be able to re-established posed positions after breaks.

Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

You are required to show proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of the start of your employment. You will not be authorized to work in any capacity until all paperwork has been completed. .
