Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, referrals and prior Authorizations.
- Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing scheduling software and coordinate with doctors and clinical staff to optimize daily clinic operations
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear information and directing calls appropriately
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating electronic health records (EHR systems), collecting copayments and past due balances.
- Support medical office management tasks managing office supplies to ensure a well-organized front desk environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role, ophthalmology or optometry preferred.
- Strong computer skills, ability to navigate through the medical software system.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and Medicare guidelines for accurate documentation and billing processes
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic is highly desirable.
- Excellent, professional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clear friendly communication abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation.
- Prior experience working in an ophthalmology or Optometry practice is preferred but not required
