Environmental Services Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Housekeeping Department in maintaining a high quality standard of housekeeping by keeping management informed of the immediate condition of all assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the department personnel to be sure all schedules are complete.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Have a basic understanding of the area and control of all supplies and equipment used in the Housekeeping Department.
• Checks assigned areas continuously to be sure work is being done and personnel are following schedules.
• Reports all pertinent information to the Director of Housekeeping.
• Knows schedules for all assigned areas and is alert for ways to improve them.
• Handles all requests with a sense of urgency.
• Instills a positive, service-minded attitude and feeling of pride in a job well done in the Housekeeping staff by demonstrating a personal enthusiasm and team spirit.
• Trains and retrains Housekeeping personnel as directed by the Director of Housekeeping.
• Arranges for assigned areas to have adequate coverage at all times by checking assignment sheet and using personnel efficiently.
• Inspects equipment daily to maintain its clean condition and good repair.
• Answers telephone with cheerful enthusiasm indicating a desire to serve and logs the call in the telephone log.
• Prepares daily Supervisor’s Report discussing activities and projects with the Director of Housekeeping.
• Maintains good public relations with all residents, facility and staff personnel.
• Maintains close control on supply distribution and supply usage, noting inventory needs to the Director of Housekeeping.
• Maintains a high standard of personal appearance among Housekeeping staff.
• Observes cleaning needs throughout the facility and submits written project request to the Director of Housekeeping indicating project complete or to be done.
• Insures that linen carts are stocked according to schedule.
• Performs other related duties of department as requested by the Supervisor.

JOBQUALIFICATIONS:

• Three to five year’s of experience leading Housekeeping employees at a health care facility, 250 beds or larger, or commercial facility of equal responsibility.
• Must be able to demonstrate skill and knowledge of proper floor cleaning and refinishing procedures.
• Must be able to demonstrate skill and knowledge of chemicals and equipment used in the daily operations of a Housekeeping Department.
• Must have knowledge of employee scheduling.
• Must satisfy requirements of pre-employment and annual physical.
• May use computer for department records.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
