About The Position
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Audio Visual Installation Technician to join our team for on-site integration work throughout NYC, New Jersey, Long Island, and Westchester. The ideal candidate has a strong background in AV installation, wiring, and system setup, with the ability to deliver clean, reliable, and professional work in commercial environments. We’re especially interested in technicians who are experienced in AV commissioning or who are eager to learn and grow into commissioning responsibilities. Candidates should be located within NYC, NJ, Long Island, or Westchester and comfortable traveling throughout these regions.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Audio-Visual installation, including tasks such as:
- Mounting and installing displays, projectors, speakers, cameras, microphones, and control hardware
- Pulling, dressing, labeling, and terminating AV cabling
- Building and wiring AV racks
- Installing and configuring networked AV devices (Dante, AV-over-IP, etc.)
- Testing, troubleshooting, and validating AV systems
- Completing room setups for conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, and similar environments
- Reading and following AV drawings, signal flow diagrams, and schematics
- Collaborating with leads, PMs, and other trades on-site
- Leading crews or managing portions of AV projects
Commissioning-related Experience (preferred Or Willing To Train)
- System testing and verification
- Device configuration and programming support
- Final system tuning, calibration, and client-ready handoff
- Ability to identify issues and deliver polished, functional systems
Additional Helpful Skills (not Required But Beneficial)
- Basic structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6 installation, termination, and testing)
- Light experience with fiber termination or patching
- Experience with AV over structured network environments
Required
- Valid SST (Site Safety Training) card — physical card required
- A clear photo of the SST card uploaded with your resume
- Reliable transportation to job sites across NYC, NJ, Long Island, and Westchester
- Personal hand tools appropriate for AV installation
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
- Familiarity with on-site safety practices
Preferred Certifications
- AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D
- Manufacturer certifications with systems such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Zoom Rooms, etc.
- Related low-voltage certifications (BICSI, FOA, etc.) are a plus but not required
