What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flagger / Laborer position at Mason County?
Essential Functions:(any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions in the class)
- Perform traffic control and flagging activities as needed
- Follow safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones and other warning devices; duties may vary according to job assignment
- Operate non-CDL pickups and flatbed trucks
- Operate hand tools in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures;
- Conduct routine equipment maintenance and daily equipment inspections according to County standards.
- Perform basic road repair and maintenance tasks;
- Report safety hazards and traffic problems.
- Perform manual labor assignments as needed, cut brush with hand tools, chip, load and haul brush.
- Clear rights-of-way of brush and other debris to improve visibility or diminish road hazards.
- Facility housekeeping and maintenance.
- Prepare reports and maintains records.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities and outside environments with exposure to inclement weather. Moderate physical demands; strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
(Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job may be considered)
Seasonal position, no experience required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Possess a Washington State Traffic Control Flagger card
- Valid WA State driver’s license with a clean driving record
